Recap: Sept 13th, 2023 Club Meeting- Senator Maxine Seymour visited the Club where she spoke on National Development and Literacy in the Country.

Recap: Sep 15th, 2023 - Fellow Rotarians gathered at St. Gregory's Anglican Church to remember and celebrate the life, service and dedication that Johann has not only shared with us but also with his church, other organizations and family members. We with heavy hearts paid our last respects to IPP Johann , and like other great ones from our club who have passed on. IPP Johann will always be etched in our hearts and memories of the Rotary Club of South-East Nassau Family.
Recap: Sept. 16th - All roads led to All Saints Camp for another Service Saturday!Rotarians served hot breakfast to the residence who were very grateful for such a early morning treat.

Recap: Sept. 16th - In keeping with Rotary's theme of the month "Basic Education and Literacy", school supplies were generously donated to the kids of All Saints Camp. Some of the items just to name a few included a backpack, composition books, pens and pencils.

Recap: Sept. 19th - Doris Johnson First Interact Meeting. Interactors, the tiny fire spark that grows into future Rotarians. 30+ students along with the South East Nassau Youth and Literacy Committee were in attendance. The energy at the meeting only gives a preview of all the great work and projects the club and its advisors are looking forward to accomplishing this year.
In Rotary, the theme for the month of September is Basic Education and Literacy, one of the six areas of focus.
How can we take action?
-Participate in a world community project to provide teacher training and needed classroom supplies. A few of our members already help load containers heading to South Africa with unwanted school room supplies from schools that have been closed in our area. We welcome more of our members to help with this worthy "Global Literacy Project" which is an ongoing project of the Rotary Club of Grand Bend. On Aug 25th I had the privilege of helping them load container #79. I have already signed up for container #80 to be held on Sept 7th in London. It's probably too late to sign up for this one but please consider helping in Exeter when they load another container in October. Please join me in helping the Grand Bend club with this wonderful project. Not only do you have a great feeling of satisfaction knowing that these items will not be littering the dump but that children who have nothing will now have desks, chairs, blackboards, etc. You also have the opportunity to meet many wonderful Rotarians from our area.
More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate.
That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population.
Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. We support education for all children and literacy for children and adults.
