Last week our speaker was our very own Past Preident Lionel Haven. Lionel spoke on the topic of the World Cup. Lionel is a former professional soccer player and currently coaches youth soccer.
Lionel gave some lessons on soccer, how it is played and some of the basic rules of the game. We also learned about the World Cup and its history. Lionel taught us how teams get to the World Cup and how the rounds are played until the final. Did you know that the first World Cup was in 1930? He also spoke on the current World Cup and the teams involved and gave some insight into his opinion of which teams would make it to the finals.
The meeting was enjoyed by all that listened and it was very timely as the world cup is currently going on.
