Last week’s speaker was IPDG Chares Sealy who joined Rotary in 1997. He served as President of The Rotary Club of South East Nassau in 2003-2004 and Assistant Governor of Rotary Bahamas in 2010 - 2012.

IPDG Charles' topic was Virtually Leading 7020 During a Pandemic: A Year In Review.  Charles recounted initially feeling dismayed as he realized that the pandemic would prevent him from visiting clubs in the customary manner.  Charles is passionate about Rotary and helping humanity, so he wanted to be able to visit all the clubs in his district to give guidance and support.

Never being one to let a challenge get him back, Charles decided to make the best of the situation.  There were challenges as this was a first, but Charles turned those into opportunities and devised a program that turned many of the challenges into benefits.  One of the benefits realized was that IPDG Charles could reach out to clubs more often.  In situations where he would normally visit a club once a year, he was able to visit clubs more than once by way of online meetings.  Club leaders also saw enjoyed this benefit and often called him to set up online meetings for additional advice.

As there was no face-to-face interaction and it’s more personal touch, IPDG Charles made it a rule that persons in meeting have their cameras on whenever possible so that the meetings were warmer and more personal.

IPDG Charles is proud to have served as DG and is enthusiastic about future roles and activities he will be performing in Rotary.
