Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends,

The ROTARY CLUB OF SOUTH EAST NASSAU has been around for a long time (well, longer than me at least): 41-years!  In some ways, we've changed tremendously, as we've grown, matured, and adapted to the changing needs of our members and communities. There´s a lot that´s different about our Club today. Yet, the foundation that we are built on hasn´t changed: Service, Fellowship, Diversity, Integrity, and Leadership. These are the core values that define us as Rotarians.

Every one of us in this Club is here (hopefully!) because we were invited, and because we made a choice to accept that invitation. Every day since then, we are faced with another choice: whether to just be a member, or to truly be a Rotarian. Being a Rotarian is a commitment that goes far beyond just showing up at meetings once a week. It means seeing the world, and our role in it, in a unique way. It means accepting our communities as our responsibility, and acting accordingly: taking the initiative, making a difference, and doing what´s right - not what´s easy.

I am proud to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Earnest Brokmeier, Rusty Scates, “Dick” and Carla McCombe, Ednol Smith, Roger Kelty, among other distinguished Past Presidents; their achievements and leadership are a source of inspiration, excitement and power to truly change lives. These Past Presidents came to this Club to get involved, and to make difference. And, in their service, as in just about everything else in life, they are shining examples that the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

It is a privilege to lead the club through this, the 41st year, and I wish the future Presidents and members success as we continue to MAKE SOUTH EAST GREAT!

Yours in Rotary Service,
President Godfrey Bethell, 2017-18
