Last week our speaker was Ebony Johnson who is affectionately known as Ms. J. Ebony is an author, educator and she wrote The LoBasico Series. She is more than a Spanish teacher and is a "pedagogical specialist in the discipline of foreign language education with a specialty in Spanish". Ebony spoke to us about her studies and how she has studied Spanish extensively in both Salamanca and Valladolid Spain, Havana Cuba, San Jose Costa Rica, Lima Peru and Panama. She earned numerous certificates in Spanish Language and Culture. She earned her diploma in teaching Spanish as a second language in 2015 and obtained her certificate in teaching English as a second language in 2016. She created and submitted Spanish lesson content to the Ministry of Education Bahamas' online Spanish platform during the COVID 19 Pandemic and also submitted PowerPoint lessons and PRUEBITA Spanish assessments. She earned her Master's in Spanish Pedagogy in 2022. Ebony is a dancer and social media influencer and also lends her voice to radio and television ads. During the meeting Ebony engaged the members in a Spanish lesson and taught us basic words and phrases in Spanish. Everyone present listened attentively and absorbed the knowledge which was being passed down. After the lesson the members received a test on what was learned. The test came in the form of a game. Ebony gave out several prizes during the meeting. One of the prizes was a copy of her book "The LoBiasco Series".
