As a Rotarian: Current: President; Previous: Secretary. As a Rotaractor: District Rotaract Representative; Assistant District Rotaract Representative, RI Rotaract & Interact Committee Member, RCOB Youth Services Area Coordinator, President, Public Relations Director, Sargeant at Arms.
What is your fondest Rotary memory?
Hurricane Joaquin Relief efforts at Odyssey Aviation when I was President of RSENC. It blossomed into so much more than just one day of service and there were so many partners (corporate and private) who wanted to help. The first time someone asked me why I opted to help, I said "Something had to be done and I knew whatever it was, we could do it." I'm not sure if I really deeply believed that about Rotary until that day. But now, I carry that into everything this club does - if something needs to be done, I know Rotary can do it. To this day when I see a Vitamalt box I remember that day and feel a tug at my heart for the great work we had a hand in doing.
What is your funny Rotary story?
It's an international one and it wasn't funny at the time but anyway...I travelled to Ecuador in the third quarter of my RSENC Presidency, and I of course was proudly wearing my Club Pin. It was a ridiculous line for US Clearance here in Nassau, and I was a little nervous because I was travelling alone. The agent I went to did a subtle double take after he got my documents and then he politely closed them onto his desk and started asking me what felt like a million questions that seemed to get more and more ridiculous as he went on. I was getting more nervous, annoyed and frustrated. And then the dude says "I'm just messing with you, my wife's a Rotarian and I recognized the Rotaract pin". I nearly fainted. And he just stamped my passport and told me to have fun in Ecuador.
