Meeting Recap: June 5th 2024
What an awesome time of fellowship we had with the Rotary Club of South East Nassau at our joint meeting on Wednesday!
We had the honor of presenting newer Rotarian Keva Carey with her first Paul Harris Fellow Award. Keva, Thanks for your generosity in supporting the Rotary Foundation. This recognition was particularly special before Keva leaves us for a while, as she will be in Jamaica for almost three months. She promises to stay connected via Zoom and help us foster closer ties between RCEN and some Jamaican clubs. I sense a cross-border joint project in the new year!
Additionally, RCSEN Secretary Megan Minus also received her first Paul Harris Fellow Award, further highlighting the commitment and dedication within our Rotary community.
Additionally, two board members of RCSEN were pinned by DGND Lindsey as they joined the Polio Plus Society, further demonstrating our shared commitment to Rotary's global initiatives.
President Leah led a festive and engaging meeting, with creative discussions that encouraged Rotarians at each table to share their thoughts and experiences. This format fostered deeper connections and lively interactions among attendees.
RCEN had a strong presence both at the Yacht Club and online, showcasing our club's enthusiasm and commitment.
In a surprising and generous gesture, President Christian announced at the end of the meeting that 100% of the fines and raffle proceeds would be donated to RCSEN, rather than splitting them 50/50 as originally planned.
President Leah shared her gratitude in the Presidents & Secretaries chat group: “Hi everyone! Wanna give a very special shoutout to President Christian and Secretary Valentino. It was a long time from thought to fruition, but our joint meeting yesterday was wonderful. I think it sparked a little something extra in our membership that will hopefully carry over into the next year. I really appreciate you both and your members for yesterday! A good time was had!”
We anticipate more joint meetings with other clubs in the new year and look forward to your support. Creating meaningful bonds with Rotarians from other clubs is key to maximizing Rotary's impact so that we can collectively make an even greater difference in our communities.
Membership in Rotary offers you avenues to explore your interests and connect with other Rotarians who share them, simply for recreation or to serve the world.
Rotary Fellowships are international groups of Rotarians who share the same hobby or interest. Over a hundred different fellowships exist, exploring interests from 4x4 vehicles to urban gardening and everything in between. Often these groups cost nothing to join and introduce you to people around the world through virtual and in-person meetings. See the list of Rotary Fellowships and learn more at Rotary International's website.
Rotary Action Groups are networks of Rotarians with expertise in particular areas that focus their service efforts and mentor Rotary clubs worldwide. Whether you have expertise in an area or want to develop it, Rotary Action Groups can connect you with some of the brightest minds in over two dozen different fields.
