Past President (PP) Doneth Cartwright, a distinguished member of the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise, recently addressed the Rotary Club of South East Nassau on the topic of "The Rotary Foundation & Benefits of Giving." In her presentation, she emphasized the profound impact of the Rotary Foundation's initiatives and the personal fulfillment that comes from contributing to its causes.

The Rotary Foundation, established in 1917, is a non-profit organization that supports Rotary International's efforts to promote world understanding and peace through humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It relies entirely on voluntary contributions from Rotarians and supporters who share its vision of a better world.

PP Cartwright highlighted several key programs of the Rotary Foundation:

  • PolioPlus: A global initiative aimed at eradicating polio, which has immunized over two billion children worldwide.

  • Humanitarian Grants: These grants support projects that address health, hunger, and humanity, including disaster recovery and community development efforts.

  • Educational Programs: Scholarships and fellowships that foster international understanding and peace by enabling students and professionals to study and work abroad.
She also shared her personal experiences, noting that giving to the Foundation is not only rewarding but also "liberating," as it allows individuals to be part of meaningful global change. PP Cartwright's insights serve as a reminder of the significant role the Rotary Foundation plays in addressing global challenges and the personal satisfaction that comes from contributing to its mission.

EVENTS
&
COMMUNITY SERVICE

***********************
The Rotary Club of South East Nassau (RCSEN) proudly partnered with BAF Financial & Insurance to host the "Dance for Diabetes" event, a lively initiative aimed at promoting awareness of diabetes and its impact on our community. Held in recognition of World Diabetes Awareness, this event combined fun, fitness, and education to highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle in managing and preventing diabetes.

Participants joined in a series of dance sessions led by energetic instructors, moving to upbeat rhythms to emphasize that physical activity can be an enjoyable way to support overall wellness. The event also included informational booths, where attendees could learn about diabetes, its risk factors, and the critical role of early diagnosis. Healthcare professionals were present to offer free screenings and provide insights into managing diabetes through diet, exercise, and regular medical check-ups.

The "Dance for Diabetes" was more than just an event—it was a community effort to support those affected by diabetes and raise awareness of the steps everyone can take to maintain their health. RCSEN is thrilled to have collaborated with BAF on this impactful initiative, and together, we continue to promote health and wellness in the fight against diabetes.
