International Women's Day: "Woman in Bloom"
-
Last week our speaker was Rosena Duncanson.  Rosena is a writer, information security specialist, a Toastmaster President and a member and past director of the Rotary Club of South-East Nassau.

Rosena's presentation took place on International Women's Day.  She described all women as flowers and said that the flowers need the proper care, maintenance and environment to bloom.

We heard about about her journey up until college and after.  She studied computer science, and has been employed in auditing, consulting and information security for the past 15 years.  A few months ago she published her book "Memories of a Misguided Rose", a book of poems.  Rosena has been writing most of her life and some of the poems in her book were written since her time in college.  Her collection of poems grew, some of them were very personal, and as time went on persons saw how talented she was and encouraged her to share her story.

A friend who read her book encouraged her to publish it and as time went on she found an accountability partner who helped her.  She signed up with a publishing house who assisted her in making her dream a reality.  Her book which shares poems  about love, heartbreak and self discovery, was released on February 10th 2023.  She read some of the poems to the club during the meeting and it was immediately apparent how talented Rosena is as an author and poet.  Rosena said that we all have a story and an adventure in life that we have taken.  She said that we don't have to be a best selling author but that we should take the time to write our story.

Anyone interested in purchasing the book can reach out to Rosena on Facebook, her Facebook name is Rosena M. Duncanson.  The book is also available digitally on major sites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. A Google search for the book's name will find the book on dozens of sites that sell digital books.
