Our speaker last week was Inspector Percy Grant, the General Manager at The Bahamas Humane Society. Inspector Grant was very knowledgeable about the history of The Bahamas Humane Society after serving there for decades. The club was presented with information on the history of The Humane Society and it's development over the years. The Humane Society houses hundreds of animals (mainly dogs and cats). This is the last resort for some of the animals as many of them are abandoned, abused, sick, injured or simply could not be taken care of by their owners anymore. We also heard of the many challenges the Humane Society faces. Some challenges have increased over time. They now house many more dogs and cats than they did in the past which also poses a problem as many animals housed together can become violent towards one another. Inspector Grant also told us of some cases where the Humane Society rescued abused and injured animals. The Humane Society operates off of donations and any donations to help support their work are welcomed.
