On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the Rotary Club South East Nassau had the pleasure of welcoming Schantell Tonny as our guest speaker for an inspiring and thought provoking conversation on:
“Literacy: The Power to Read, Understand & Transform.”
Schantell reminded us that literacy is not simply about knowing how to read. It is about having the power to understand, make informed choices, unlock opportunities, and transform lives.
When a person learns to read, a world of possibilities opens.
When communities become more literate, they grow stronger.
When we invest in literacy, we invest in the future.
Her message challenged us to reflect on an important question:
What can we do to help ensure that every person has the opportunity to read, understand, and transform their life?
As Rotarians, we believe that education is a powerful pathway to lasting change, and we are proud to continue championing initiatives that empower our community through knowledge and opportunity.
